I am comparing this oven to an earlier model. The newer model seems less solidly built. The buttons don't give as sure feedback when pushed, and the layout of the buttons is not as intuitive and harder to use. The results are the same, I'm just not as comfortable with it as I used to be.

We bought the exact same microwave that we had bought two years before. Our extended warranty had covered an issue we had had with it. I wanted the same because of the look of the appliance. I love the black slate. The outside looks exactly the same....but it is not the same product. It is not made as well as the other. The door is super light compared to the other and has a hollow sound. The fan blows out the top and there is no cover to keep from things falling in to the area that is blowing out. Also, the inside is not the same color and sometimes the door fogs up when cooking anything that may steam. I am thankful I bought another extended warranty....because I have a feeling I may need it.

Its a beautiful color and sturdy in mechanics. Very versatile and a lot more useful than the simple hood only i was considering to install.

Expensive for a basic microwave oven. At this price point, it should have more to offer. Not just an excessive up charge for the color. However, it does look elegant with the matching GE Black Slate Slide In Range.

I replaced My 3-year old microwave after I burned it out heating water over a long time to make Jell-O shots (400). I bought the same model number as my original one but it is not the same quality. It works well but is of a different quality of material.
