My old GE microwave shorted out after several years, but I liked the model. I also liked the idea to get the exact same model to make installation easier. I later found out that both the mounting brackets and top screw positions changed. Also, the door of the new one seems clunkier (lighter weight and noisier when closing). Regardless, the installation went well, just took more time and effort .

New GE microwave is replacement for worn but still working old 16 yr old GE microwave; it’s convenient to use over range and digital options cover most every possible cooking & reheating task.
Great Microwave, Poor Quality Handle

This is my 4th GE microwave. I owned one counter top model for years that worked great. I bought a house that had a built-in over the range GE microwave. After about 2 years living here, the door started to fall apart. I have no idea how long the microwave was used before we bought the house. We went back to using the counter top model for a few years, and then last year bought this model to replace the broken one. After 18 months, the door handle broke off without any abuse whatsoever. The product protection plan I had purchased from the retailer covered the repair, except that the repair for replacing a handle was too expensive ($170 per the GE Parts website), so the retailer opted to refund my money instead. I purchased the exact same model, but the one I got did not use the same wall mount, or have the same screw hole locations in the top. So I had to bore more holes in both my wall and cabinets above the microwave. A giant pain in the but, since these are not easy to install. Why on earth would you manufacture two different ways to mount the microwave on the exact same model?!? At this point, I would not recommend an over the range microwave to anyone.
