I purchased this freezer approximately 1 month ago. On the positive side, it's still working. I have had several issues where the door did not seal when I closed it. It does not create the vacuum seal, like most freezers when you've had the door open and the cold air escapes. Fortunately, I caught it in time before the food was ruined and I now try to make sure I push on the door after I've closed it. The alarm is a joke, my coffee pot, microwave, and toaster oven all ding louder than this freezer alarm. I replaced a 14 cu ft. freezer with this one, yet it doesn't hold as much food. The fact that they don't provide you with at least one extra shelf really irritates me. Especially because they want $40 for the lower shelf, with shipping just over $50 and $77 for the upper shelf with shipping $95. I don't think so! I went to my local DIY store and bought a closet shelf for $7 and had them cut it to the width I needed. They only come in 12" and 16" depth but the 12" works fine. I got 2 shelves out of it, although I'm only using 1. This is not unique to Whirlpool. Kenmore and Frigidaire also overcharge on their accessories. I have not owned it long enough to comment on reliability. I read many reviews that complained the freezer quit working within a couple of months or just after the warranty period. I have several other Whirlpool appliances that have not given me any problems. I pray my freezer is not the exception.
