We read the terrible reviews prior to buying these pcs of junk, However, the Sidekicks are the only thing that fits the hole. Started having problems a year after purchased 1/2014. Replaced 2 timers, one thermostat and constantly filling with Freon and stop leak. We can buy new, cheaper then fixing the old junk. FINALLY GIVEN UP. AVOIDING WHIRLPOOL AND MAYTAG APPLIANCES IN FUTURE.

We bought the Whirlpool sidekicks when we renovated our kitchen 3 years ago. We have had nothing but issues with the freezer unit, requiring multiple visits from the appliance repair shop. After replacing the evaporator and repairing leaks 3 times, they took it to their shop to attempt to repair. We are now told it must have an internal leak and cannot be repaired. We've lost the cost of the freezer, $1000 in repair bills and all the food we lost everytime the unit broke down. In contacting whirlpool today, they don't have any reports of issues (even though there are countless similar complaints provided) and did not take any responsibility for manufacturing a poor quality product. Do not purchase this product!!!! Something is seriously wrong when units that are less than 3 years old can't be repaired!!

I the defrost timmer messed up twice in the first year I had it. I have only had this freezer for 4 years and now it is unfixable, it has an internal leak. I got the matching fridge at the same time and have also had to pay to have it fixed as well.

I had the same style by another manufacturer in my previous home for almost 10 years and was fantastic. For the same money or less that many side by sides you get all this space, if you are willing to give up the cabinet and counter space
