A lot going for it but one big flaw

This AC is quiet, easy to use, nice app and a lot else. BUT the bottom of it isn't flat. Which means you can't put it on an ac bracket. One side of the base is raised, so if you try to set it in on AC bracket it wobbles side to side and you can't shut the window flush on it.

Purchasers one for the bedroom last season. Liked it so much there is one in the living room now. The unit does a great job of cooling the room and the TV volume stays at a normal level. Installation is typical for a window unit. WiFi app for control from your phone is simple to set up and may come in handy.

I bought 2 units (PHC08LY, PHC06LY) for the 2019 heating season and really enjoyed them while they lasted... Ultra-quiet, convenient integration in GE app / smart home environment, and easy to clean / maintain yearly. But here we are, as I was prepping the units for the 2022 season, I noticed that BOTH units had paint adhesion issues and extensive rust. I naively thought I could fix it, neutralize it, and repaint it, but it turns out the entire body was compromised. Paint and metal flakes could be removed by hands. My prior units lasted over 10 years, and just like my neighbors in our NY apartment building, never had such rust issues. I did contact customer service and while kind and responsive, they offered me a rebate on my next GE unit and indicated rust could simply be due to local weather... See the pictures attached, I let you be the judge. Again, BOTH of my less then 3-year-old unit suffered the same issue. Should I trust that if I buy a third or fourth one from GE the result should be any different?

Very easy to install only about 20 minutes for 2 ladies over 70. Very quiet. WiFi hook up no issues. Have 2 GE Profile window ac units.
