samsung will not respond for this "physical damage" that happened while cooking on a cooktop. i know people with different brands who have not had this issue after years of using theirs!

Simply put, this is an excellent cooktop. Installation was straight-forward and took very little time. The overall performance of the cooktop is also excellent. The "turbo-boil" elements are definitely much more powerful than the large burners on my old Kenmore Elite cooktop. My large rectangular griddle that came with my old Kenmore still works very well when placed over the two left burners even though they don't have the small bridge burner between them. I especially like that the large burner is located in the back half of the cooktop thus allowing all of the steam from a large pot of boiling water to be capture more efficiently by the vent hood. The only small negative is the placement and sensitivity of the "Smart Things" touch control. It is very easy to turn the option on/off by accident when cleaning the cooktop. It would have been better if it required touching the button for a longer period of time, like 10 secs, in order turn the feature on/off or enter setup mode. It's not that much of an issue with this model because you can't control the burners anyway, it only allows you to see the state of the burners.
