I bought this microwave along with other Kitchen Aid appliances for my new kitchen. It is installed in my island. So far, we are cery happy with it. It was a lot more expensive than a regular under counter microwave. It has a little trouble with popcorn, but everything else seems to be at standard cooking times. It also converts to a convection oven; this the larger price tag.

I purchased this microwave/convection oven as part of a complete kitchen renovation. It has been a lemon since day one. The service technician has been out 3 times so far and it is not even 10-months-old. Service call #1 - Fan sounds like a jet engine and doesn't work half the time. Service technician told me that it is really not meant to be a convection oven despite it being sold as a convection & microwave!!!! He told me simply not to use the convection feature and then I would not get error messages. (I am not kidding!!!) The convection is why I bought the KitchenAid unit and paid $2,000 Service call #2 - Fan still not working and they "fixed" it with some new parts. Service call # 3 FOUR PROBLEMS...for a 10-month-old Problem #1 Fan still not working. Problem #2 Convection does not work and errors. It shuts down and you get scrambled error messages that are not legible on the control panel. Problem #3 Gives a "shut door" error message even though the door is shut tight. Problem #4 When I turn it on to cook, the timer counts down, the light inside is on, the fan does not run, the turntable is spinning, but it does not cook. NOTHING. It looks like it is working but zero heat and no fan running. Now they want to send the technician to basically rebuild my $2,000 10-month-old, barely used microwave/convection oven with a bunch of spare parts which the technician could not confirm would be new parts and not rebuilt or reconditioned used parts.
