I went to the appliance store and looked at a couple of different brands of disposals.The salesman showed me the sounds of two different ones.i of course chose the whilpool due to its reputation through the years(i'm 69)when I brought it home and had it installed I was very surprised how quiet it was it was quieter than the sample noise in the store.As far as i'm concerned you can't go wrong with a whirlpool product.
