The 1st thing I noticed was how quiet it was compared to my previous unit. I didn't realize that I had bought a 1 HP vs a 1/3 HP unit until we were installing it. Now I'm glad I went with the bigger one. The install was fairly easy but did require a 2nd person to help hold things in place. The reason I chose this one was because of it's impeccable rating on consumer reports. It was this one or one that was $400. This was an excellent choice.

I purchased this to replace a 1/2 hp GE unit that had just failed. It's definitely more powerful and efficient, although I don't believe it to be any quieter which it is supposed to be. It certainly doesn't vibrate my counter like the other did. Would certainly recommend it over the smaller unit for those that are frequent users of a disposal.
