Wow!! And so cool to have this nugget "good ice" available in my home any time I want!! This GE Profile Opal Nugget Ice Maker 2.0 is awesome!! This machine is very sturdy and well made. The outside of the machine has a very sleek look. The initial set up can take a bit of time. You have to run through the cleaning cycle a few times, but that was sort of expected with machines of this nature. It came with a quick start guide and a manual that was easy to follow. Once we completed the cleaning and set up, we were ready to make some nugget ice! So the instructions say that it will begin making ice in 20 minutes. And that's correct. But once it starts making ice, it will probably take about an hour for you to get a full tray of nugget ice. It is a little difficult to fill the water reservoir. The reservoir sits under the ice tray and depending on what you are using to fill it, it can be challenging. I ended up using a measuring cup which was a little time consuming. Also it's kind of hard to see where the "water max" line is because the coloring of the writing is tone on tone at the back of the machine. I just used the flashlight on my phone to see it better. This product also comes with a drip tray and ice scoop. The drip tray is an absolute must. There are drips that come off the bottom of the ice drawer when you open it to scoop out ice. So unless you want water dripping on your floor or counter top every time you pull the ice tray out, I highly recommend putting the drip tray in place. Also the ice scoop...there's no where to put it really. I was surprised that on this machine there is no slot or specified area to store the ice scoop. I supposed you can leave it in the ice tray but then it can get buried under the ice and can be somewhat of an annoyance to get out. All in all, this a great ice machine for nugget ice and I would definitely recommend it if you are in the market for one.

My GE Profile™ Opal™ Nugget Ice Maker 2.0 without Side Tank is such a great addition to my kitchen. I don’t even want to use my ice dispenser in my side by side anymore with the Opal! The perfect ice for an ice cruncher like me. It’s like having an old fashion soda shop in your house with this great ice. It makes ice fast, is small and compact, and fits neatly on my countertop.

In our house summer calls for everything with ice, water juices mocktails. This nugget maker is perfect for my medium size kitchen counter top and is very compact. It makes ice of perfect shape. Best part is it is very fast. The machine is very light weight as well which helps to move it easily for cleaning or just in case we decide to change its location. Another smart feature is it is wifi enabled. The other thing I observed is that ice from this nugget maker does-not melt easily which just makes it perfect. It has made summers more cool and tasty ! Highly recommend this product !

Overall, we really enjoy this ice maker. The soft ice was a bit smaller (about 1/2” long) than I anticipated but it’s no big deal. As the directions state, it’s true to the time and takes about an hour to fill the whole bucket with ice. The maker does a good job and keeps the made ice cool easily for a day at a time. If you leave the machine on it will continue to make ice as the ice in the unit melts. Overall the unit is quiet for it being an ice maker. The drawer is nice and a scoop is provided. Initial quick set up is easy and directions are clear. I would recommend using a smaller glass and not a 4 cup measuring cup to add water as pouring is difficult with something of that size. The only problem I had is when performing the cleaning cycle, the water in the bottom of the reservoir did not completely empty after the end of the cycle and I had to hand mop out about 1” of water. I placed the drain hose well below the base of the unit and there were no kinks in the line so I’ll need to do some more research on this. I can see where cleaning regularly is necessary to keep the machine running well and the taste of ice good. Design is great.

A few years ago, I took my daughter to NYC and in our hotel was an ice dispenser that made this type of ice. I have been looking for one ever since. This is "the good ice", the legit, crunchy goodness, super refreshing awesome ice maker! Now for this particular unit, I will say that I highly recommend using a flashlight when assembling. There are water level lines in the base and the indicator lights/buttons are hard to read and they are not raised. We assembled this in our very well lit kitchen, but we couldn't have figured out those specifics without a flashlight at first. Once you know where everything is, you won't need the flashlight any more. This ice maker is a dream come true. My husband thought I was crazy getting this, as we have an ice maker in our fridge. Then I caught him bypassing the fridge for the good ice!
